Although Greece has been the focal point of the firm's activities,
Kelemenis & Co. has been active in most of the transition
economies in Southeast Europe (e.g. FYR Macedonia, Serbia,
Albania, Romania, Bosnia). We have consistently advised
local governments on EU regulation and competition, and
on legal approximation with the EU acquis. In doing so,
we have developed strong alliances both in the private and
public sectors in these countries. Such involvement makes
it possible for our national and international clients to
make excellent use of our knowledge of the business and
legal environment in the region, our ties with local law
offices, and our networking.
Our work is by and large funded by the EU through its various
local programmes (European Agency for Reconstruction, CARDS,
OBNOVA, PHARE) and occasionally by the World Bank and EBRD.
We have substantial experience both of working for central
government (mostly at a legislative/statute drafting level)
and of advising investors on their dealings in these emerging
markets (including privatisation and PFI/PPP deals).
