Acts
for an international, Dubai-based cosmetics manufacturer
on the setting up of its Greek operation. The firm has structured
Greek operation’s financing from foreign entities
and has dealt with stamp duty and withholding tax implications
of such financing, as well as with income tax implications
in case of exit or restructuring.
Advised
on the tax structuring of a €22m venture capital investment
of Barclays into a Greek travel company and on all tax implications
(e.g. withholding tax, capital gains, transfer pricing,
VAT) of the transaction.
Advised
on the multi-million lease of fire-fighting helicopters
and fire-fighting personnel (pilots and mechanisms) to the
Greek state focusing primarily on VAT and withholding tax
issues.
Advised
on the tax implications of the merger of two closed-end
investment funds with a merged portfolio of about €26m.
Acted
for multinational sportswear manufacturer Champion Europe
SpA on a transfer of business as a going concern and reviewed
all tax implications (e.g. transfer and withholding taxes,
taxation of goodwill) of the transfer.
Acted
on the corporate restructuring of several SMEs on the basis
of both the Greek Investment Code and the tax-driven incentives
set by laws 2166/1993 and 1297/1972.
Advised
a major Greek trading company over stamp duty issues relating
to inter-company loan arrangements concluded in Greece and
abroad.
Represented
CEO of a financial services company in a €290.000 liability
claim of the Greek tax authorities against him.
Advised
on the acquisition of the controlling interest of a listed
leisure group and on such issues as capital gains, equity
options, and shares purchase.
Provided
tax advice in connection with a multi-million acquisition
of several resort hotels in top tourist locations.
Advises
on an on-going basis on tax planning and ownership arrangements
following an amendment to Greek law regarding the real estate
ownership regime applicable to offshore companies.
Advised
on tax planning and structures as well as on choice of corporate
vehicles in relation to property acquisition and disposal
in Bucharest and Moscow.
Advised
on tax planning and financing for the acquisition of a €15m
property on Syngrou Avenue, an upper market location close
to the Athens city centre.
Advised
buyer on his tax-planning regarding the acquisition of several,
high-value properties in central Athens.
